Howard is certified by the Law Society as a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law and a Certified Specialist in Corporate and Commercial Law, and is also recognized as an expert in Estates and Trusts Law. Howard is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Fiscal Association, Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners and the Business Law, Taxation Law and Trusts & Estates sections of the Canadian Bar Association.
For over 40 years, Howard has been involved in successfully resolving tax disputes and winning leading tax cases. Howard has a reputation for getting excellent results for his clients. In an important Tax Court of Canada decision the Judge observed that Howard was "meticulous and well prepared in the presentation of his case". Howard has been interviewed by Global TV News regarding appeals from CRA tax assessments.
Howard is a past instructor in several Bar Admission Courses which focused on Taxation, Estate Planning and Estate Administration. Howard has also published an article in the Canadian Tax Journal.
After graduating 2nd in his law school class at The University of Manitoba, Howard was called to the Bar in Ontario with Honours, finishing in the top 3% of his Bar Admission Class.
Howard is a committed and devoted husband and father. He is actively involved in community service. Howard is an avid sports fan and also enjoys Latin dancing, billiards and chess.
